Step into the heart of Cathar Country on a private day tour combining one of the region’s most charming medieval towns with its most iconic hilltop fortress.

After pickup in Toulouse, we begin in Mirepoix, a beautifully preserved market town famous for its half-timbered houses, arcaded main square, and relaxed local atmosphere. We’ll enjoy a gentle walk through the historic centre, with time for coffee, small boutiques, and local specialties (market visits are possible on market days).

After lunch, we head deeper into the Ariège landscapes to reach Montségur, one of the most powerful historical sites in Southern France. Perched dramatically on its rocky peak, Montségur offers breathtaking panoramic views and a fascinating introduction to the Cathar story. The hike up to the ruins is straightforward but does involve a steady climb — good walking shoes are recommended — and I always adapt the pace to your comfort.
