About this tour

Discover a perfect mix of culture and countryside on a private day tour from Toulouse to Albi and the nearby Gaillac wine region.

We begin in Albi, a remarkable UNESCO-listed city famous for its warm red-brick architecture and the impressive Sainte-Cécile Cathedral. Enjoy a guided walk through the historic centre, scenic viewpoints along the Tarn River, and time to soak up the atmosphere at your own pace — with stories and context that bring the city to life beyond the usual tourist highlights.

After a relaxed lunch (recommendations tailored to your preferences), we head into Gaillac, one of the oldest wine areas in France. Depending on the day and your style, we’ll enjoy a scenic drive through vineyards and hilltop views, with an optional tasting in a local winery or a stop for regional products.

This tour is ideal for travelers looking for heritage, local culture, and convivial moments — without long driving times.

Tour itinerary

01 Day

We will start our day heading out from Toulouse towards Gaillac, embarking on a scenic one-hour drive through the rolling, sun-drenched hills of the Tarn countryside. Upon arrival, we will take a leisurely stroll through Gaillac's picturesque, narrow streets, where you will instantly notice the signature pink-and-orange medieval brickwork. This walk leads us straight to the majestic Abbey of Saint-Michel, perched beautifully on the banks of the Tarn River. Take time to enjoy the magnificent architecture of this ancient monument, marveling at its towering Romanesque walls and the stunning stained-glass windows that flood the historic nave with vibrant, colorful light. After soaking in the peaceful atmosphere, we will head back to the vehicle for a short, highly scenic 25-minute drive past sprawling vineyards over to Cordes-sur-Ciel. As we approach, you will see this breathtaking medieval fortress crowning a steep rocky peak. We will take a captivating walk around gorgeous Cordes, navigating its steep, ancient cobblestone pathways and passing by grand Gothic merchant palaces carved from stone. Take in the undeniable charm of this timeless village, stopping at the ramparts to enjoy the stunning, panoramic views of the lush Cérou Valley stretching out completely below us. Finally, with memories of ancient stones and sweeping vistas, we will head back to Toulouse. The smooth drive back to the city is usually around 1.5 hours.
