This tour is perfect if you love architecture, local life, and “real France” moments: cafés, small boutiques, and beautiful viewpoints without the rush.

We’ll take a convivial lunch break in a local address (tailored to your tastes), then enjoy time for a gentle riverside walk and photo stops before returning to Toulouse in the afternoon.

We will start our day heading out from Toulouse towards Montauban, enjoying a smooth and straightforward 50-minute drive north into the heart of the Tarn-et-Garonne department. Upon arrival, we will park near the river and begin with a stroll across the monumental Pont Vieux (Old Bridge). Take time to admire the magnificent engineering of this 14th-century brick structure and soak in the stunning panoramic views of the Tarn River reflecting the city's elegant, pink-hued skyline. From the bridge, a short walk brings us to the prestigious Musée Ingres Bourdelle, housed inside an opulent 17th-century episcopal palace. Take a moment to enjoy the magnificent architecture of the brick mansion before exploring the grand galleries inside, which showcase the brilliant, precise neoclassical paintings of Jean-Auguste-Dominique Ingres and the raw, powerful sculptures of Antoine Bourdelle. Next, we will weave through the historic pedestrian streets to reach the jewel of the city: the breathtaking Place Nationale. Take a walk around this gorgeous, fully restored 17th-century plaza, enjoying the unique charm of its double-rowed brick arcades and bustling restaurant terraces. Before heading back, we will make a final stop at the Church of Saint-Jacques. Look closely at its iconic octagonal bell tower to spot the historic cannonball indents left behind during the famous royal siege of 1621. After taking in the peaceful atmosphere and deep history of the village, we will head back to the vehicle. The relaxing drive back to Toulouse is usually around 50 minutes to an hour.
